Judge recruitment and host housing...

During the Region IV tournament to be held at Oklahoma Christian University, we may have need for a few people to host competitors families in their home.  Oftentimes the cost of a hotel stay can be prohibitive and impede a family's ability to compete.  If you have an extra bedroom, or a pull out sofa, please contact Becky Brittain at rogbeckb@gmail.com  Thank you for considering the gift of hospitality to these families.

Additionally, PLEASE send the letter below to all of your OKC/Edmond contacts.  EVERYONE can judge speech or debate events.  We do it in every day life.  The question to ask yourself is, "Did this person effectively communicate their message to me?"  That's it!!  Everyone can be a judge.

Dear __________:

On May 7-9, 2015, an exciting event is coming to Edmond, OK!  Oklahoma Christian University will be hosting the Region IV Invitational on behalf of the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA). We would be honored to have you come this year to help our students learn to communicate effectively through Speech and Debate.  Would you consider making an investment into the lives of our students and give a few hours of time to come listen and give them feedback?   No experience is needed!

You can pick a single time slot to judge, or multiple slots as your schedule allows. Each round will take about 3 hours of your time. This will include a brief orientation about the events, the round itself, and time to complete your evaluations. Snacks and/or a light meal will be provided. No experience is necessary! Judges must be 18 years or older and out of high school to judgeCommunity service hour certificates are available.

Our national organization has a website to make registering to judge easy:
To register to judge, go to:
www.ncfcajudges.com. Once you are there, click on Region 4 (including Oklahoma) on the map. Select Region IV Invitational and follow the directions to register.

With 11 separate speech events, and 2 different types of debate, we need around 400 judges for our tournament. We expect over 250 students from across the region, along with their families, to attend this event.

Feel free to forward this information to your friends and colleagues who might be interested in helping us.
