7 days until the Tournament in Shawnee...

Hey there Speakers & Debaters!

We are ONE WEEK away from the OK Shawnee Qualifier.  I will be sending several emails this week to help equip you for a successful tournament experience. Here are some suggestions...

TOURNAMENT CLOTHES... Now is the time to start rounding up those tourney outfits.  Check out the ncfca.org website to view the dress code.  If your student has been to TeenPact, then this dress code will be familiar to you.  If not, think "young professional".  Most of our TeenPact/debate clothing has come through the thrift store or hand me down channels, so remember that professional doesn't equate to expensive.  You will need 3 outifts...you can wear the same suit and change the shirt/tie (guys) or shirt (gals) for each day.  Gather your outfits, dry clean or iron, and hang them up, and mark that off your list.  :)

TOURNAMENT EVENTS...Sign in to ncfca.org and confirm the events you are committed to compete.  Also, please read the chaperon policy.  NCFCA wants to insure that each competitor is safe and has a parent/adult chaperon with them for the duration of the tournament. In addition, your service to judge various rounds of speech and debate will be CRITICAL to our shared success.  It's okay if you aren't familiar with how to judge certain events.  There is judge orientation and a judge ballot that helps guide you through the process.  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! :)

SCRIPT SUBMISSIONS...check the ncfca website CAREFULLY to insure your script/speech meets their guidelines.  This is important and you definitely don't want to scramble around looking for a copy store to make a copy of that one piece of paper you forgot (been there, done that!)  Double check the submission requirements, accurate citations, make sure all of your ducks are in a row, copies made and highlighted, etc. and set it by your tourney clothes.  Check it off your list! :)

If you have any questions, please do not respond to this email, simply email Kayla at y ea h G o d@ i n e t fa m i l y. us (remove the spaces).

More to come...
